Some more fries :)

I hope the colors in these pics are not over-saturated, I don't want the food to look unnatural. When I open my blog on my phone, or tablet, the colors tend to look so exaggerated and  the food looks almost cartoonish, so after I post photos on the blog I immediately check out how the pictures look on my phone and if the colors are too accentuated then I try to edit the pic again. I love photographing fries and pasta, but sometimes the many angles, curves and edges give me a hard time at post processing, some parts tend to be more colorful due to the fac that the light hits them directly, and if I try to enhance the colors of the entire photo, while editing the picture,  those parts get to look exaggeratedly saturated. Anyhow, hope I got the colors right this time, they look ok to me on the laptop:)

UPDATE:

Well, the colors turned out to be too strong so I had to edit the pictures again. The pictures above have been changed, saturation turned down and I made also the contrast lighter, however, this morning, while watching the photos again I thought I should change the hue of the fries also, and make them look more yellow than orange. I usually add a generous amount of paprika powder to the potatoes, hence the orange/red color of the fries.

I really like how the picture turned out in the end :)

Oven baked potatoes part II

I made some oven baked fries, again, and I couldn't help not taking a photo. It is important to take the pictures while the food is still fresh, warm, straight out of the oven. You can see the difference between the two photos. The first is shot right after I took the fries out from the oven and the second one much later, while trying to make the egg yolk look yummy and creamy the potatoes got cold, you can see that they have lost their shininess. Next time, if it happens again, I will just grease the potatoes with some oil (using the one remained from the baking) so that they look fresh even after they got cold.

The camera settings I used for the pic above are:

Exposure: 1/50s at f/5
Exposure Mode: Auto
Exposure Program: Aperture Priority
ISO: 320

I did not use any special props or backdrops for this picture, only an improvised foam light reflector. The light came from the sides and from the back.

Oven baked fries

For this picture I used my two aluminium sheets as backdrop, a little decor bucket (or is it a plant pot?) from ikea, my vintage forks set on a napkin and some baking paper. I really like the grey background, it makes the colors of the fries pop, ok, and I might have enhanced the colors just a little bit in the post processing. I made only little editing on this pic, as already mentioned I increased the saturation in the color of the fries, and made the grey look a little bluish.

Camera setting that I used for the pic above are:

Exposure: 1/5s  at f/4
Exposure Mode: Auto
Exposure Program: Aperture Priority
ISO: 100
